Now that the wedding craziness has passed...

I can be better about keeping my blog up to date! These past couple of months have been busy! Chuck and I got married on November 1st at the Don Cesar Beach Resort in St. Pete Beach, FL. I couldn't have asked or dreamed for a more perfect weekend...it was fantastic! In the next couple of days I will post some pictures from the wedding as well as Thanksgiving weekend. We spent Turkey Day with Chuck's family...it was strange with it being so warm, but what was even more strange was putting up Christmas decorations when it was 76 degrees out! We even had a couple of tornadoes touch down around the Orlando area this afternoon. Yesterday we had a Gator Watch Party and cheered the Gators on to a win over Florida State 'Noles. :) Pictures to come!!! -

Yum...Oreos!

Let me start off by sharing the joy I just experienced by dipping my Oreo into milk to the point just before it was going to disinegrate in my fingers and then stuffing it into my mouth...on the wedding diet? No, but it was ohhhh so delicious and I did limit myself to two. I haven't had an Oreo in I don't know how many years! That totally took me back to my childhood to when we lived in our house in Miltonvale...must've been a long time since I've had an Oreo. :)
Anyhow, we are right at 4 weeks until the wedding and it seems like I can't stop thinking about it and going over the list of details that I need to do over and over so that I don't forget something. I write it down thinking that will clear my head, but I just end up writing lists over and over....um, can you say ADD? We drove over to Tampa (again) to meet w/ the florist (our 3rd) and then did our final marriage counseling with the Reverend that is going to marry us. Florist - LOVE him...he knew what I wanted and worked w/in our budget and is going to give us beautiful flowers. I'm just relieved that I can walk away from the appointment and trust that our flowers are going to look great (not a feeling I had with the other 2 florists). Meeting w/ the Reverend - I wish he was in Orlando so we could go to his church. Chuck and I both feel that we always want to keep in touch with him and his wife down the road...he is just such a great man. I feel so lucky that he is going to marry us. Marriage counseling was kinda fun...Chuck and I talk a LOT about different things but it's interesting to have someone else kinda push you to talk about the things you might not think of discussing.

So, the latest on my dress...the bridal shop that i bought it from convinced me to take an inch off of the torso to shorten it up...not sure why, but I trusted them... BAD MOVE. My seamstress here in Orlando is able to fix it (can't give too many details :) ) but when I put on my heels the dress raised up off the floor! So...I don't get to wear the cute heels I picked out and had to go frantically looking for "kitten heels" which there just arent' alot of styles out there. Today I ran into a store in Tampa and they had some pretty cute ones so I just bought them. I guess the good thing is that there's a good chance that I will be able to wear them all night long and won't have super sore feet which is great. So that's what I'm up to these days...repeating lists in my head and trying to get things done. :)

Hurricane Party??

Well, I must admit, this Kansas Girl is a little nervous. And excited, I suppose. It's my first real potential for a hurricane...following the news media's suggestions, I decided to go to Publix (FL's grocery store chain) and get some necessitites. Well, I started getting a little anxious after it took me 10 minutes to find a parking spot (I was at the smallest Publix in Orlando), and about that much time to find a shopping cart. I pretty much saw a guy unload his groceries and then jogged over to him (trying not to look panicked) and asked him if I could use his cart. :) So then I stepped into the craziness....I completely forgot what I should buy! Water was the only thing I could think of and then I saw some cereal bars and got them too. That's it. I think I was just too overwhelmed, so I left and decided that Chuck would be better at getting the supplies since he's a native Floridian... I only added 2 bottles of wine to his list. :) I actually don't think that it's going to be a hurricane (knock on wood) but more of a tornado and high wind threat. I KNEW we should have gotten our trees trimmed!! I can tell Max (our golden) can sense the weather change...or maybe he can feel my nervousness. :) I know that this was pure coincidence (b/c the storms haven't really started yet), but when I was leaving the bank to get cash, a HUGE tree limb fell and blocked off the entire road I was on...that kinda freaked me out. I've seen pictures near our neighborhood after Charlie went through and let's just say, that has me freaked out a little bit, b/c people keep on making comparisons to Charlie. Oh, great...they just said they are pretty sure it's going to turn into a Hurricane before it makes landfall. Hmmmm...wonder where Chuck is with that wine? :) I guess some of Chuck's friends have been calling him to check in and see how his Kansas Girl is doing. :) Well, I'm doing good...like I said, I'm excited, but I just don't want anyone to get hurt or to have too much property damage. I'll keep you posted!

Long VS. Short

Okay, here's one more post for the day. I'm still not 100% sure that I'm going to keep my hair long for the wedding, but pretty sure... the top layers still have about 1 more inch to grow before she can actually give me the "real deal" haircut, but you get the picture from above. So....what do you think...short or long for the wedding? (I know this isn't "long" to many, but for me it is loooonnnnggg). :)

SoFL Wedding Shower

This last weekend we had our last wedding shower that Chuck's sister and husband and their parents hosted for us. It was a paaaarrrrttttaaaaayyyy! We played many games, but one of the funniest ones was where we had teams and we had to design a wedding dress using only toilet paper and papertowels (no tape). And the men had to be the models. I spent the first 30 seconds trying to convince Chuck to take off his shirt b/c it would hamper my design...I lost that argument. He was a trooper and even carried the bouquet of flowers that someone handed him out of the centerpieces. And then I used his sunglasses to attach his veil. :) We got 2nd to our friends Andy and Annie, and I will have to say that she did awesome with her dress. I'm going to have to blame my model for not taking off his shirt!
